THE STORY BEHIND THE SHIRT
This Real Madrid 2006/07 shirt represents a memorable season for Fabio Cannavaro, one of the greatest defenders of his generation. Having arrived from Juventus in the summer of 2006, the Italian centre-back brought his exceptional defensive awareness, leadership and experience to the Spanish capital. Fresh from captaining Italy to World Cup glory, Cannavaro enjoyed an extraordinary individual year in 2006, winning both the FIFA World Player of the Year award and the prestigious Ballon d'Or. Remarkably, he remains the last defender to have won the Ballon d'Or, highlighting the extraordinary achievement of his triumph in an award traditionally dominated by attacking players. During his debut season at the Bernabéu, Cannavaro helped Real Madrid reclaim the La Liga title, with the team finishing level on points with Barcelona but securing the championship through their superior head-to-head record. The triumph marked Real Madrid's first league title since 2003 and a memorable return to the top of Spanish football. Featuring the La Liga patch and the FIFA Club of the Century badge, this shirt captures a historic period for Los Blancos and the arrival of a World Cup-winning, Ballon d'Or-winning defender at one of football's most iconic clubs.
